CEO of Telegram billionaire Pavel Durov arrested in France

 

Police in France have arrested Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of social media platform Telegram.

He was arrested on Saturday at La Bourgeois airport, north of Paris.

Russian-born 39-year-old tycoon, allegedly arrested in relation to a Telegram crime.

French media have reported that the private PLANE landed with Durov on board at La Bourget airport near paris. He was detained when he stepped off the plane.

The arrest happened and Russian authorities already know


The Russian embassy in France promised "immediate action" over the arrest, local media said.


According to French media reports, the arrests targeted Telegram as a popular messaging service that has been accused of allowing crimes with at least one key figure in their operation still continuing his activities.


This claim was followed by the arrest of Mr. Durov in a subsequent complaint made to police.


Though we've not seen an official comment from either the Telegram app, or French police.
